Note Vs Galaxy Nexus 6 4 Review: Android Phone’s Biggest Fight – Forbes

Do you remember the Dell Streak? Launched in 2010, the 5-inch phone was Widely Considered a freak, but in 2015 it is dwarfed by so-called phablets as the ‘big is in’ revolution continues. While even Apple Apple is now a convert, the phablet revolution really Began on Android.

As of February 2015, Its two leading lights are Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 and Google Google ‘s Motorola-made Nexus 6 – monsters With 5.7-inch and 6-inch displays, respectively. Having HAD So several months Living With Both models it is about time I let titans clash in Original

Displays -. Brilliant Vs The Best

There is only one esta place to start with pairing and That Is Their huge screens:

  • Nexus 6-6-inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel (2k) AMOLED panel – 493 pixels per inch, Gorilla Glass 3
  • Note 4 – 5.7-inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel (2k) Super AMOLED panel – 515 ppi, Gorilla Glass 4

Putting in Original two displays side-by-side is a remarkable experience and for my money there are no finer smartphone displays currently on the market. Their colors are rich and vibrant, with wonderfully deep blacks and wide viewing angles and picking a winner Almost feels petty.

That Said, for me, the Note 4 edges it. Ignore the ‘Super’ aspect (that’s just Samsung’s hyperbolic terminology for Integrating a touch layer – digitizer – into the screen), but what clinches it for me is the Greater color accuracy

A few years ago esta would ve been a ludicrous claim as Samsung screens Were famed for oversaturated colors. But it has since done an acerca turn while Motorola is the one slightly over egging the pudding here. Of course esta comes down to personal preference (some prefer exaggerated colors and Samsung settings allow users to revert con sus more extreme color palette), but for me it Gives the Note 4 the win.

The Note 4 display Also has an advantage in durability as it comes With The latest generation of Corning Corning ‘s hugely popular Gorilla Glass. Corning claims-generation four is twice as tough as generation three and twice as likely to survive a one meter drop. Neither phone has-been dropped in my time with them, but the Note 4 hectares Also picked up less surface scratches.

DESPITE esta, the Nexus 6 Remains a stunner screen and no owner will be disappointed, Especially Given STI Extra size. Then again I agree with DisplayMate. Currently the Note 4 smartphone has the best display on the market, even beating out the LG G3 and iPhone 6 Plus

Designs – Flawed Giants

If displays are the number 1 talking point in Original acerca two phones, then a number 2 is overall size:

  • Nexus 6 – 159.3 x 83 x 10.1 mm (6.27 x 3.27 x 0.40 in) and 184g (6.49 oz)
  • Note 4- 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm (6.04 x 3.09 x 0.33 in) and 176 g (6.21 oz)

Much in the same way That Both in Original phablet’s displays dazzle, Their size and weight will Also leave you slack jawed: They are quite frankly massive. DESPITE esta They Also Could not be more different and each has very different pros and cons.

Where the Nexus 6 comes out ahead is ergonomics. Its heavily rounded back Means it does not lie flat on a surface, but it feels great in hand and molds into your palm. Motorola has done an incredible job Also With The bezels fitting the 6-inch display into Almost the same footprint as the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 4.

There are other victories as well: the Nexus 6 has front facing speakers (more later) and to flush Compared to the protruding camera lens on the back of the Note 4. Consequently on looks alone the Nexus 6 has it

That Said Where the Note 4 comes storming back is practicality. Its removable back Enables the battery to be Replaced and expanded storage (both no-nos on Nexus devices) and Its notably narrower width (78.6 vs 83 mm) Also Means it is Easier to reach the opposite side of the screen and THEREFORE type on – even if handed Both are really two devices.

Furthermore, while Samsung gets pilloried for the build materials used in ITS phones (something the radical Galaxy S6 September looks to change), I prefer the finish of the Note 4 . more than the Nexus 6

This is not really high praise as Both phones leave a lot to be Desired here, but whereas Motorola bizarrely ditched the lovely ‘soft touch’ default back of the Moto X for a cheap, slippery plastic, Samsung’s faux-leather AT LEAST has a grippy texture and can be swapped for alternatives.

What about carrying them around day-to-day? They will fit well in front MOST men’s jean pockets, but do not walk up stairs Attempt to, bend over or get in and out of a car With them there UNLESS you enjoy short, sharp pain. Likewise Those carrying luggage Typically, a brief case or bags on the move will find Their two handed use a problem. I write more about Adapting to big phones here.
