If you want an Android Pure with a great camera and exceptional design, you should definitely try the new smartphone from LG

. Since the birth of the Nexus project, almost six years ago, Google has worked with various manufacturers to deliver the ideal Android experience. This year, success is exceptional.

The first of the two models presented in 2015 to reach Mexico is the LG Nexus 5X, the third collaboration between Google and LG and the first to run the version more Recent house: Android 6.0 Marshmallow

5X is a mid-range phone with two of the best cameras segment, full HD, fingerprint reader and is also one of the first phone. C have a USB port, the emerging standard connectivity that promises many things but perhaps the most important thing is that now we can connect the cable on the first try, not in the third, as we do.

To know whether or not it is worth, try the Nexus 5X and here we tell you what we thought to detail.

C USB port, 5.2-inch screen and 136 grams, the 5X is one of the best phones of 2015.

design and materials. The first thing 5X notes have in your hands is that is light, very light, despite having a 5.2 inch screen weighs only 136 grams. Your body is composed of a brushed aluminum frame, plastic on the back and a display protected with Gorilla Glass 3. Like the Nexus 5 (unlike the Motorola Nexus 6), its weight is well balanced and handle it one hand is not a problem.

Display. Your display Full HD 5.2 inch has the same technology found in the G4, IPS LCD, and though it has a lower density pixels per inch (423 vs. 538 dpi), the resolution is more than enough for almost the edges of objects are not noticed. Still, brightness, color saturation and contrast, the display of the Galaxy S6 is still the best in the category

Performance. LG chose to play it safe after problems that showed the Snapdragon 810 and opt for the 808 chipset 2 processors respectively 4 and 2 cores and combine with 2 GB of RAM. The result of combining hardware with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) is a frictionless workflow or complications that does not consume a lot of energy (more on that later).

Cameras: One of the strongest points of 5X. The main camera, 12.3 MP, f / 2.0 autofocus and dual LED laser (with the same technology as the flagship of LG), delivers images with vibrant colors, good contrast and well defined even in low light. It is capable of recording video in 4K and 1080-30 and 720-60 fps fps. You can see some made him take our Flickr account. For its part, the front camera, 5 MP, also has an opening f / 2.0 and is one of the best in the category.

Security This is the first Nexus is to integrate a fingerprint sensor to unlock the computer (and, soon, shopping). And it’s fast, perhaps as much as the iPhone 6S, which gives extra points. The location, although sui generis, it is quite comfortable after a couple of days of use. Placing the center of the back, just where LG usually put the home button-on and off, makes more sense than you might think

Storage. As is a tradition in the Nexus family, 5X not have an expansion slot, so you’ll have to juggle to survive with the 10 GB model available in 16 GB or 26 GB model 32 free.

USB C: This is one of the first teams to incorporate a C USB port, the new standard that we will see more and more teams in the future. The advantages of the port are a higher transfer speed (compatible with USB 3.0) and the convenience of not having a right one and backhand, but can more easily connect to your computer. On the downside, this is such a new technology that the average cost of a cable around 400 pesos, and since the 5x comes with a USB cable C USB C, you need one USB C to USB if your computer does not have the specified port

Battery. Its 2,700 mAh are barely sufficient to overcome the barrier of 24 hours, so nothing spectacular in this department despite functions including the new version of the operating system. It does not help that neither nor 5X 6P Huawei have wireless charging technology. On the positive side, the fast charger fills the battery from 0 to 100% in less than 90 minutes

Marshmallow. The Nexus 5X and 6P are the first phones to have to Android 6.0 factory and do, as always, without any layer of customization. This is pure and direct Android. We have said before in this space: The work done by the Android team has been outstanding and your operating system is in some respects superior to iOS. Marshmallow not intended to be a significant evolution of the experience, but a refinement of various details that become easier and more intuitive. Among the improvements of Android 6.0 are:

  • Doze Mode. A function that puts the phone to sleep when inactive and static takes several minutes, which means that the function is activated only when you leave on a firm surface, not when you bring in the bag. There’s nothing you can do about it, you can not turn it on or off, or set it so that the benefits are virtually invisible.
  • Direct Share. Now you can share photos or links to your most frequent contacts with just a tap, something very practical that we had seen in IOS.
  • Now on Tap. If you’re a fan of Google Now, you now have cards directly from your home button, just touch and hold and the information will be relevant to you.
  • Pay Android. Although not yet available in Mexico, Marshmallow and allows payments via NFC through Pay Android app, which securely stores data on your cards so you can make your payments without contact. Just need to wait for our country. : /

Balance

This year we tried more than 15 high-end phones, and very few of them had so much fun as Nexus 5X. Although the lack of a memory expansion slot and USB C costly cables can play against, the overall experience is exceptional Android Pure, fluid and very simple. His great camera and fingerprint reader make it an excellent choice for its price (9,000 pesos for the 16GB model and 10,500 for the 32 GB or so) and, if looking for a new Android phone, definitely recommend that you take out.
