HTC Nexus One vs M8 5: development versus simplicity - Tablet Zone

HTC just made official its new flagship for this year, a terminal renewed (and perfect) the most basic concepts of the previous generation. Still, there are sections in which little progress has been made, being the star of the major manufacturers with a more discreet device specs “base”. We compare the characteristics of the new computer with the Nexus 5 , a reference in the sector.

The Nexus 5 as device Google designed to show the way to partners, can not avoid comparisons with every new high-end smartphone that launches. This time playing compared to the HTC One M8, the big bet of the firm led the Android smartphone market , together with Samsung, in the beginning of the platform.

Design

HTC designs are always a point to consider. If in terms of software, many say is the Xiomi Apple of Android, in the most aesthetically exquisite finishes almost always come from the hand the Taiwanese brand.

HTC One M8 comparative

The new flagship back on track, with speakers in the front area and a solid aluminum body , although its margins enlarged slightly to accommodate a larger screen. The fundamental problem, in our view, is that HTC still needs much more space than other manufacturers to mount display or less , being the antithesis of LG in this regard.

Nexus 5 has very simple lines and although their materials more “poor” size-inch relationship is on their side.

Size and weight

One measures 14.6 cm x 7 cm x 9.4 mm and weighs 160 grams, while the terminal Google has dimensions of 13.7 cm x 6.9 cm x 8.6 mm and weighs 130 grams. As we see the HTC bet becomes rather bulky .

Screen

It is virtually identical in the two teams. The One has 5 inches and the Nexus with 4.95. Both are Full HD , 1920 × 1080. We can not go much deeper into this factor, but it should be clear that HTC now integrates the buttons into a digital form navigation bar within the panel itself, so that growth in inches with respect to the generation above is somewhat relative.

Performance

There should be no major differences in this section. The HTC One rides a Snapdragon 801 to 2.3 GHz, which is kind of Snapdragon 800 vitaminado. True, perhaps, in pure terms, the speed of the Taiwanese firm SoC is somewhat higher but the total absence of coat personalization Nexus interface can balance the scales.

Nexus 5 vs Z2

Yes, in terms of graphics performance, yesterday we saw some benchmarks where new One glowed with light , even above the Galaxy S5.

Disappointment may come in the section on memory RAM. Both terminals have 2GB , when many expected the new generation invariably had a capacity of 3GB.

Autonomy

The M8 has a storage capacity 2,600 mAh , which is less than the data or S5 Galaxy Xperia Z2, however, serves to beat the 2,300 mAh Google device.

Despite this, it is wise to wait for a slightly more solid evidence of consumption in order to say what stands out above the other in time real autonomy .

Camera

The camera is one of the great attractions HTC flagship this year. The two lenses are able to get 3D effects and perform at a high level with low ambient light. Furthermore, the technology is particularly good ultrapixel at short distances. The conclusion is that, in spite of having 4 mpx, the M8 is capable of treating the picture for some results 16MPX .

HTC Nexus One vs M8 5

The camera of Nexus 5 is one of the weakest sections of the Google device. Still, the optical stabilizer can also give us a good low-light performance.

Price and conclusions

If the first data are confirmed, HTC One M8 will come to Spain for about 700 euros , a price that our view is too high. Just half 350 euros , we can get a Nexus 5, the performance difference is not so marked as to justify such a jump.

Yes, HTC is a brand that knows how to work in the field of exclusivity . Some users who can afford a large outlay just to get some sublime finishes and marvelous audio, however, if budget is a constraint (which for most of the world today it is), the Nexus 5 offers much more realistic to value .
